North Africa to the Ostfront

Bolt Action has remained my game of choice this summer and have had much fun learning and gaming with my local Historical group; part of my London Club the LGG (London Wargaming Guild, of which I am an early and loyal member). The first game was a fierce 1K battle to capture buildings on the Ostfront and the first outing for my BA-6 armoured car (which performed valiantly). A tough fought game using the Stalingrad book’s ‘constant bombardment rule’ which made things very ‘killy’. This was also a nice opportunity to pul many of my terrain pieces together for one...

In Defence of Italians in Bolt Action

In Bolt Action the Italian forces get a lot of thematic rules which ultimately reflect its performance and tactics in WW2. Their national trait ‘AVANTI SAVOIA!’ (Italian for 'lets see how it goes') – which decreases/increases morale by 2 if the army goes 3 up or down on unit kills vs your opponent makes them seem like an army that quickly falls apart when things start to go a little bit wrong. You also get ‘defensive strategy’ but this is one of those wishy washy rules that only pops up in certain scenarios. Its certainly not as tasty as flat...

Bolt Action - Upcoming Counter Set

Recently I have been getting into Bolt Action, a well-known 28mm World War 2 game. It's easy to pick up and has a wonderful unit activation system. We have been working on a prototype pin counter and blast marker here. The pin marker includes a spot for placing order dice to help keep the battlefield tidy. We're hoping to produce faction specific counters for all of Bolt Action’s armies and release as a set… still figuring out what might be useful tokens or counters to include.
